Quire Mono was drawn for a client who printed their own logs. That is a stranger brief than it sounds, and it produced the two decisions that define the face: the zero is slashed rather than dotted, and the ambiguous pairs are pulled apart further than a code font usually bothers with.
The letterforms are wider than most monospaces because the alternative is a font that reads well on a terminal and badly on paper. Line length suffers slightly. Nobody has complained.
It sets tabular data without any figure feature needing to be switched on, which is the entire point of a monospace and is surprisingly often broken.
Use with Quire Grotesk when data sits inside prose.

The pairs that matter are the ones that fail quietly: a zero against a capital O, a one against a lowercase l, an r beside an n reading as an m. A monospace that gets those wrong is not saving anyone time.
